Ask Of God

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It's our pleasure to be able to come to you today and talk with you and to tell you about the wonderful things of our Lord and Saviour. What a thrill it is, to be privileged to speak to people in the name of Christ Jesus. Such a wonderful privilege.

I wonder if we could read from the Holy Scriptures? The book of James, chapter three beginning at the first verse.

[James 3:1-18: "My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace."]

That's reading quite a bit of Scripture. As a matter of fact that's reading right on down through the fourth chapter. This is a wonderful thought here in that the Bible tells us that we are to ask of God in the right way so that we might receive. He tells us here that there are wars throughout the world, lots of problems throughout the land, and the reason for this is because that within our members we think the wrong thing. Within our minds, within our hearts, as a man thinketh in his heart so he is the Scripture tells us. The Bible tells us they actually come from out of men's hearts. Men desire to have, the Bible tells us, and they cannot obtain the things that they want because they are not acquainted with the giver.

See they've never become acquainted with God. The Bible teaches that God owns all things, and inasmuch as God owns all things, then we have the privilege of having all things in that God hath made us as His chief creation, and it is God's wonderful desire, having made us His chief creation, it is His desire that we have the very best and He hath made all things for us. So then, man has everything that heart could wish for, but because of wars and because of fighting, because of separation of brotherhood throughout the world, we find ourselves in little segregated groups. We find ourselves pushed off into a corner. Some of us trying to survive when it looks like there's no means of survival, while in the other corner the people have plenty.

Now, wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if everybody throughout the world would share their wisdom, share their understanding, share their talents and their skills and abilities one with another? Share their strength, share their experience, and share their substance of food and clothing and whatever it might be. Wouldn't it be so wonderful? Man would have no more problems. See, all he would have to do is just rest in the lovely arms of God, go where he wants to, eat and drink and be merry in Christ, have a wonderful life, see his little ones flourish, see everything work out to the benefit of his desire and there would be no wars and there would be no problems.

You know, this all sounds farfetched as we say, but some day it's going to be like that. We're working and praying and believing with all of our heart and efforts that someday our Messiah, the great Christ Jesus, the lover of peace, will come and set up that great millennium day to give us that great wonderful government that will cause us to have peace and cause our people to be filled with the love of God and that will care one for another. Just think. The Bible says in that day that nothing shall harm in all of My holy mountain, saith the Lord. All of the world will be singing and be at peace. What a wonderful thought, you know, to have rest, not to be filled with anxiety, not to have fears and frustration, not to be bewildered in that we don't understand the things that are around about us, our environment. Not being bitter because we don't understand why we're mistreated.

Don't you know that will be a great day? All of the troubles and fears will be gone. There won't be any dispute as to who is God and who is our king and who is our ruler. There won't be many gods in the land. There'll be one God, and that will be the great wonderful God, the God that created heaven and earth, that came to this earth in the personification and likeness of mankind as the Son of God. There'll be but one God, and that's the great God that had such love and compassion as He walked this earth, as He went about doing good healing, all that was oppressed of the devil. The Bible said for God was with Him. That same God that we can understand, not a mysterious God that we hear about or read about, somebody that we don't understand, but it'll be that great God that we know about. That God that walked in human form, that related to human beings.

We know the things that Jesus did as He walked this earth. We know the way that He did. We know His concern. We know His compassion. We know that He was the fullness of God as He walked this earth. Not a mysterious God that we can not understand. Not a far distant God that cannot help us, but beloved, a friend in the time of need. A present help. Whereas, the Bible tells us to draw nigh with full confidence when we desire something from God, in that Jesus has spilt His blood as the means of atonement to break down the middle wall of petition and the keeping of carnal ordinances, saying that it shall come to pass that whosoever calleth upon His lovely name, that is, the name of Jesus Christ, he shall be saved. Then we see this thing so beautifully in that He hath made a way that we might boldly, as an individual, bypass priesthood or whatever and come directly to Him, calling upon God the heavenly Father, the great eternal Spirit through the lovely name of the darling Son, Jesus Christ.

What a wonderful thought! To know this and to know that we can share in the zeal and ambition of the Lord Jesus in establishing the kingdom of God in the earth, in helping others and being a benefit to others. We can take an errand of mercy and we can be a person of mercy that all the world may see and believe and know that there is godliness and righteousness and holiness and virtue, that all the world may know that there are people, even sons and daughters of God throughout the world, that are concerned about humanity, that are about their Father's business. What a wonderful thrilling thought, to think that you and I have this great wonderful minister of reconciliation. God has given it into our hands and has said to you and I to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, he that believeth not shall be damned. For the Bible tell us if we can believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, then we can have anything that we want. If we believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, all we've got to do is call upon the His name, have faith in His name and the very presence of God will be felt. The invisible God that is above you, in you and through you as Paul has said, ever present around you, waiting to touch your heart at any moment, that you call upon the lovely name of Jesus. May God bless you. Keep this in mind until we speak to you again in this lovely name of Jesus.
