Partakers Of Immortality
I’d like to speak to you from the book of second Timothy, the first chapter and the tenth verse. Now this is some wonderful reading here in the book of Timothy and there’s something that is really outstanding here in the tenth verse.
II Timothy 1:10: But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
The Bible tells us that this wonderful thing God has for us was given to us before the world ever was. Even back in the beginning of the world, God gave it to us. He also tells us that though this was given to us in Christ before the world ever was, yet it was not brought to light until Calvary, and then it began to be brought to light by the manifestation of the Son of God and by the gospel. Now I don’t know what that does to you, but that really thrills my heart when I think about the gospel containing immortality and the light of eternal life. That really thrills my heart! That really makes the minister of God very important. Did you know that? That makes him very important. If he is really, truthfully, a man of God, if he’s really, truthfully, a living oracle of God, then he is of the greatest importance in that faith cometh by the hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and the Word of God is the gospel" therefore, in the preaching of the gospel comes immortality. Life is given through the gospel.
So then, the preacher is of great importance. It is important that he is a real, genuine man of God if he is to be among you. If you’re to listen to him and you’re to follow him, then you should be very sure that he is a man of God and that he’s preaching the Word of God, because immortality depends on the gospel. The Bible says, “He that God sendeth will speak God’s Word,” and if an individual comes to you and he is not God’s man, then he cannot speak God’s Word. If he does not speak God’s Word, then are ye deceived in that you do not get the gospel, and you’re not partakers of immortality. So then, if we’re to have immortality and if we’re to have eternal life, then we must be certain that the man that speaks to us in the name of the Lord has the gospel.
This is why I read the gospel to you from the book of Timothy and why I emphasize the Word of God in all of our communications. I want you to believe in the Word of God. I want you to love the Word of God. I want you to know that the only hope for the world, for you and me, is the Word of God. If we cannot come to the Word of God, then we cannot have life, for Jesus said, “My Words are spirit and they are life.” There is no life in anything else. There is no salvation in any other name except the name Jesus. If you do not have the name Jesus, if you do not cherish the name Jesus, if you do not believe in the name Jesus, then all of your efforts are in vain. There are no other gods before Him. There is no other way to God.
You know, most of the world agrees that there is a God, and in all nations, wherever I travel, they will readily speak to me about God. We can sit down and have a discussion concerning God, and we can talk about God all that we want to, and the nations will agree that there is a God. But our point of dispute, our point of difference, is the way that you get to that God, by what means do we get to that God. How do we approach that God? It is true that there is a God, there’s a great God, a loving God that has created heaven and earth and He is our God. He is our life. He is our hope. He is the great eternal Spirit. But beloved friend, how do we get to God? There’s surely a way. There are not many ways. There’s but one way, and that one way is through the Son of God, the wonderful Son of the living God whose name is Jesus. His name is Jesus. His name is not something else. There is not another prophet. There is not another name. There’s not anything else that you could come to God through.
The Scriptures emphatically state that you cannot get to God except through the Son of God, for there is none other name given under heaven -- that means in Germany, that means in America, that means in China, that means Australia, that means around the world -- there is not another name under heaven that’s given whereby men must be saved, and there’s salvation in none other name. To clarify this one thing, as to whether it is a certainty or not, or whether it is to be believed or not, then let us go back to the origin of it.
You could introduce numbers of names of religions, and some of you have your own bibles, you have your own scriptures as they are called. You have your own thoughts, you have your own programs, you have your own religious fervor and plans. But, let’s just look for a moment. The Bible says that salvation is of the Jew, and there is a man called Jesus and this Jesus came out of Israel. This Jesus came out of Jerusalem. This Jesus was born in the Holy Land. This Jesus came from the land where the prophets came, from where all the teachings of salvation are. Even going back through history, it’s always God among the Israelites. Even before natural history is recorded, before there is a record of civilization, even out of Egypt, we go back and we find the Israelites. We go back and we find Moses as he expounds to us the things concerning the garden of Eden. This was something that was revealed, something that history doesn’t record, something that only Moses could have told us, in that he went into the Spirit, entered into the Spirit and brought forth these wonderful things from God, Himself. They were lost to humanity because there was no historical recordings of these things. Therefore, when history goes back, it starts up in the days of Abraham. It must start in the days of the land of the Chaldees, and it must come forth from that time, and beyond that it can’t say anything. But Moses goes beyond that. Moses goes back to the garden experience. He comes down through the time of Enoch and he brings forth those great, wonderful things that were hid.
So we see that the only true report, stretching beyond history and extending beyond ‘his-story’, as we say, we see that there is a true record. This record bears witness of the coming of one, who is Jesus. All of our Scriptures state this. Even Jesus, when He came into the earth, said, “Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life.” But if you’ll read the Old Testament, He said, “These Scriptures testify of Me. They point to Me. They tell about Me. All of these things speak of Me.” If you’ll properly interpret those things, beloved friend, you’ll find that they speak of Jesus, the prophet like unto Moses, and it does not speak of another name, it does not speak of another prophet, and it does not speak of any other leader. It speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ, and there is none other name given among men whereby we must be saved, and salvation is in none other name. That is why it is so important for us to cherish the lovely name of the darling Son of God, and this is why it is so important that we should be buried in His lovely name. Going down into the water in the lovely name that has salvation, that we might come forth in the strength, the power, and the resurrection of the great Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that after we are baptized, then we shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. We shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and then shall ye have power to witness for Him throughout the world.
It is our joy and jubilance to expound this wonderful gospel and to testify of the lovely name of Jesus and tell how salvation can come to the believer, one that believeth in the resurrection and the shed blood of the Son of God, one that calleth upon the name of the Lord. The Bible says that it shall come to pass that whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. So then, wherever in the world today, immortality is brought to light through the preaching of the gospel, in that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. If thou canst believe in the name of the Lord Jesus, in the wonderful Word of this salvation, then call upon the name of the Lord that ye might be saved.
Let me invite you to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus and let me point you to one that can help you. Don’t believe in vain traditions of men. Don’t believe in other names, beloved friend. Don’t look to another cause, another source, for there is no other one. There is no other way. There is but one, and that is the Son of the living God that died at Calvary for you. Today, His blood is an atonement for you. Today, His Word is a voice to beckon unto you. His faith, which is in your behalf, translates you into the marvelous kingdom of God, to be preserved eternally. All because Jesus loves you. Let me invite you today to call upon the name of the Lord. You can have salvation, you can have prosperity, you can have divine deliverance because in His name is salvation. In His name is healing. In His name is peace and all the paths of God are peace.
So then, you can have peace and you can have happiness and you can have prosperity. It doesn’t matter what your environment is, it doesn’t matter what country you are in, or the circumstantial environment that might have you. All of that doesn’t matter. God can prepare a table in the wilderness. God can bring forth when there is no place to bring it from. God can create when there is nothing. Believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ today. Call upon the name of the Lord that ye might be saved. May God bless you is our prayer. We love you.
