The Unlimited God

So often we meet with people who have no prayer life, nor any life of consecration. They seem to hold to the opinion that revival just falls in the midst of the churches, rather than acknowledging that it comes by prayer and consecration to God. If we could get people to realize that God is limited to their faith, in their church and life, they would do more to revive their faith in works and good almsdeeds.

Somewhere in this life, we must come to the place where we see how limited God is toward us if we live a life of sin and unbelief. I recall, in the Bible, how that God was so limited while dwelling in the body of Jesus Christ as Jesus went about healing all that were oppressed of the devil. He went into a certain village to help the people and to heal them, but He met with such lack of confidence in the supernatural workings of God until He marveled at their unbelief. Well, the Spirit of God was limited in that village, and the Scriptures conclude that there He could do no mighty miracles, but just went about healing a few sick folk.

Oh what a tragedy, to have God come into your life and then learn that you had limited God who wants to do so much for you, all because of your lack of knowledge in His grace or love, or perhaps because of your lust or greed for material gain that has robbed you of your prayer life and your fasting life with God.

Let me, as a Christian brother in Christ, plead with you that this does not happen in your life. Look back at the children of Israel, how that the Bible tells us that they limited the Holy One of Israel because of their unbelief and did not enter into the rest of God. Oh, how they suffered at the hands of Satan, because God, who was their life and keeper, was shut out of their heart. Brother and sister in Christ, look at the other side of life, a life of faith and confidence in God and His ability to save and heal and meet our every need, faith built by prayer and fasting, by hungering and thirsting after God. Look at the healings and miracles that so many people have received because of faith in God.

Remember, God is no respecter of persons. What He has done for others, He also wants to do for you. Notice here one sure thing of major importance to faith. First of all, if you need healing in your body, you must know that healing was provided in the atonement by the death of Jesus Christ. You learn this from the Holy Scriptures. Faith comes by the knowledge of the Word, or by the hearing thereof. You can’t have confidence or trust in something you don’t even know whether or not it even exists.

The next thing that you must understand is that the Scriptures are written for your sake. Now, this you must also believe, that the Bible is the indisputable Word of God, and you must believe that God is your friend, and that God is totally good. You must believe that He wants to heal you. If you do not know and believe that it is God’s loving will to heal every person in this world, good or bad, then you will never get your healing. Satan is a thief and a robber, but Jesus Christ, without respect of persons, went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him.

If you can believe that God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, and that God has, for Christ’s sake, through His death, forgiven all of your iniquities and healed all of your diseases, then you can be made whole. He said, “I would, above all things, that you prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.” Why don’t you believe God and take Him at His Word? Don’t limit the unlimited God in your life. Let Him supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory. Amen.
