A Prisoner

1. I’m a pris’ner of heartaches and sorrows,

And there’s nothing but trouble for me,

But I’m searching for a brighter tomorrow,

In a land where I know I’ll be free.

2. Here I long for the springtime of heaven,

And the beauty that I’ve heard about,

Where the flowers and fragrance of glory,

Everlastingly never fade out.

Chorus:

Soon I’ll take my journey, to never return,

To this valley with its tears of despair,

On the hilltops of glory, some day I shall stand,

In freedom and answer to prayer.
