Travelling The Highways Of Home

1. One day a Savior,

Came down to this earth,

In sin and in sorrow did roam,

Oh how heaven missed Him,

As His Father grieved,

For He’d never been away from His home.

2. The ringing of the hammer,

The nails in His hands,

Caught by the evil of Rome,

They did not confound Him,

He bowed His sweet head,

He was traveling the highways of home.

3. Children are leaving,

Mothers are weeping,

Their hope in life is all gone,

Hold onto the Savior,

Don’t give up the race,

We’re traveling the highways of home.

4. The lights of that city,

Are just up ahead,

The road signs are pointing to home,

The blood of the martyrs,

Have stained this road red,

We’re traveling the highways of home.

Chorus:

We’re traveling the highways of home,

We’re traveling the highways of home,

Just look up ahead, there’s the lights of that city,

We’re traveling the highways of home.
