1. I give you a key, friend, never let it depart,

For it is so precious, makes me sing like a lark,

Take it to cherish, it was yours from the start,

For it is the key that unlocks my heart.

2. I met this great lover, one day on my knees,

I heard Him gently whisper, “I am so in love with thee,”

My heart I surrender, there I did greatly exceed,

As He gave His love, so freely to me.

Chorus:

It was lost, but Jesus found it,

Through His death at Calvary,

There’s something about it, that’s so very dear to me,

It brings me great comfort and it gives me peace within,

For that master key hath freed me from sin.
