1. Oh where were you, when the gang met last night,

We had so much fun, but things wasn’t right,

We missed you so, you’re such a sight,

But they didn’t know, that I’d been a prayin’,

They didn’t know that I’d been a prayin’.

2. I told the Lord, that I’d do His will,

If one more time, His Spirit I could feel,

Though I’ve stumbled along, I asked God for a light,

So that I won’t be lost, in the darkness of night,

I’ve been a prayin’, I’ve been a prayin’.

3. The world passes me by, and they say things ain’t right,

But friend, I don’t care, my Lord’s holding me tight,

I’m happy with Him, my world is so bright,

So let the crowd go their way, I’ll just go on a prayin’,

I’ll just go on prayin’, I’ll just go on prayin’.

Chorus:

I asked the Lord to save my soul,

I asked the Lord, to wash and make me whole,

I promised the Lord, that I’d do what was right,

That’s the reason, my friend,

I wasn’t with you last night,

I’ve been a prayin’, I’ve been a prayin’.
